NEWS: Sky Blues break out from Escape Live

Members of the City squad visited Escape Live Coventry at Fargo Village...

14 December 2017

Coventry City manager Mark Robins and his team successfully plotted their escape to victory at a popular city escape venue.

The Sky Blues’ team took on the Prison Break experience at Escape Live Coventry, based at Fargo Village, breaking out of the room with one minute 13 seconds to spare.

Robins brought along first team players Ryan Haynes, Max Biamou and Lee Burge to take on the challenge, also joined by performance analyst Paul Travis and Sky Blues legend and goalkeeping coach Steve Ogrizovic in their bid to crack the codes.

The group were tasked with executing Terrence Swift’s escape masterplan from HMP Standfast – by solving a range of puzzles and clues left in the former prisoner’s cell.

Robins praised the escape room experience and the teamwork of his team in tackling the challenge.

Robins said: “It was a brilliant day, I was impressed with my team and I thought they were very, very good.

“I think initially we went in and there was a lot of individual work, then everything comes together.

“Once we got to grips with what we were trying to do and how the game was being played, we got better and quicker as the game went on.

“I really enjoyed the game. It gives you an idea of how your team, in my circumstances players and staff, are thinking and how they are working together as a team.

“I think it’s somewhere that we will visit more frequently.”

Ryan Haynes added: “I’ll definitely be coming back, but it was harder than I thought it would be to be honest.

“We just scraped through but we still got the win and that’s all that matters!”

Prison Break was the first experience available at Escape Live when it opened last year, with the venue recently opening a second, Casino Heist.

Rory Bailey, interim manager of Escape Live Coventry, said: “It was great to host the guys from Coventry City at Escape Live, they actually did really well and escaped just in time.

“Escape experiences are a brilliant way to build team spirit and get everyone working together in the same direction to solve the puzzle - that’s exactly what Mark Robins and the team did.

“We had some fantastic feedback from the guys and we’re looking forward to welcoming them back soon to take on our Casino Heist experience.”
