NEWS: Players Visit Hospital Ahead Of Christmas

14 December 2017

Last week, members of the Coventry City squad went to visit the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire.

Lee Burge, Rod McDonald, Michael Doyle and Marc McNulty all went over to the hospital after training on Thursday the 7th of December.

The players came bearing gifts for the hospital, as well as money they had raised between the whole squad, to donate to the local charity at the hospital.

Although, when the lads arrive, unfortunately due to the severity of illnesses on the ward and the mass amount of patients, the players were unable to visit the children on the ward.

However, this didn’t stop them as they met a selection of children who were well enough to come and see the players at the hospital.

Amongst the children, was City supporter Sky, whose Mother is a massive Coventry fan, naming her daughter after the Sky Blues.

The lads posed for photos with Sky and other children, as well as parents and other visitors at the hospital and also signed autographs.

Captain, Michael Doyle had this to say about the visit:

“Myself and some of the lads went to visit the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire last week and it was a great to be in that position to go out and do that and I think as a group of players it is something we would like to go and do more of.

“On the day circumstances with the hospital meant we couldn’t go on the wards to visit all the children, but we got to meet some amazing people as well as the nurses, doctors and charity workers who do a fantastic job. “
