George Hudson returned from injury to secure the title for the Sky Blues...

Coventry City returned to Division Two as champions with a 1-0 win over Colchester United at Highfield Road.

With injury having kept George Hudson out of the City line-up, Jimmy Hill ensured he was back for the vital game. Speaking to the Daily Mirror Hill said: "Three times I have asked George if he felt fit to return. At last he agreed."

Hudson's 23rd minute goal proved to be the winner as the Sky Blues took the title in front of 36,901 supporters.

The side that day comprised of Bob Wesson, John Sillett, Mick Kearns, Brian Hill, George Curtis, Ron Farmer, Willie Humphries, George Hudson, George Kirby, John Smith and Ronnie Rees.
