Midfielder Gael Bigirimana has been awarded Coventry City’s PFA Community Player of the Year award for the 2016/17, as judged by a panel of representatives from Sky Blues in the Community and Coventry City.
The Academy graduate has been a committed advocate of the club’s work in the local area, including being the Sport ambassador for Sky Blues in the Community and a ‘Next 20’ ambassador for Kick It Out, the anti-racism and discrimination campaign.
Gael was presented with his award following the final home game of the season by Sky Blues in the Community Director Dave Busst.
As well as player appearances scheduled by the club and Sky Blues in the Community, Gael also takes time to attend visits in his own time too.
David Busst from Sky Blues in the Community said: “We were delighted to award Gael with the Community Player of the Year award for 2016/17.
“Gael always approaches community visits with enthusiasm and is engaging with fans and the public – whether old or young. Not only has he made a high number of visits, he is a fantastic example and role model at the visits which he attends.”
