HEAD TO HEAD: Coventry City v Oldham - City aim to make it two wins on the bounce against the Latics

14 September 2016

Ahead of Oldham Athletic's visit to the Ricoh on Saturday, we compare the two side's head-to-head record...

Coventry go into Saturday’s game against Oldham Athletic having only played the Latics 25 times in their history.

Played – 25
Games won – 11
Games drawn – 8
Games lost – 6

In what is a fairly new head-to-head record, the Sky Blues hold the advantage winning eleven of those meetings and drawing eight.

The first fixture between the two side’s was back in 1924, and after three more fixtures in the next year, the two would not meet after that for another 33 years.

In their last meeting the Sky Blues ran out 2-0 winners on the final day of last season, with Adam Armstrong scoring his 20th goal of the season.

Two goals in the last 16 minutes were enough for City, as Romain Vincelot headed in from eight yards out from a Jacob Murphy corner before Armstrong hit his milestone goal. Murphy was again involved as he crossed for the striker to sweep in and double their advantage.

Four of the previous six encounters have ended in draws, one of which came in their first meeting of the 2015/16. A 93rd minute equaliser from Danny Philliskirk cancelled out Aaron Martin’s opening goal as the host’s had to settle for a point.

Last five fixtures: WDDLD

Tony Mowbray’s men will be aiming for victory on Saturday, which will see them win the last two fixtures against the Latics.
