RECORD: Daniel Agyei scores the fastest ever goal at the Ricoh during Checkatrade Trophy win

7 October 2016

The striker embarked on a wonderful solo run to give the Sky Blues a very early lead against Northampton Town...

It has been confirmed that striker Daniel Agyei recorded the fastest ever goal at the Ricoh in the 3-1 win against Northampton Town on Tuesday evening.

In a whirlwind start to the game, Agyei’s solo strike hit the back of the net after just 19.5 seconds, to set a new record.

The on-loan Burnley man beat the previous record of 27 seconds held by Reading’s Grzegorz Rasiak in the Royals’ 3-1 victory in 2009 - making it the fastest goal registered at the Ricoh since the Coventry City move in 2005.

Unfortunately, Agyei doesn’t take the accolade of City’s fastest ever goal. Eddie Brown’s goal against Reading in the 1954/55 season is still the mark to beat, scoring after just 12 seconds.

Watch the goal and the rest of the action from the 3-1 victory below...
