Sky Blues in the Community launches the third year of the +Sport Move and Learn Project, in partnership with Ferrero and the EFL Trust.
Sky Blues in the Community, Ferrero and the EFL Trust are today announcing that they are embarking on the third year of their partnership in Coventry and Warwickshire to get even more children moving through a primary schools programme that encourages children to take part in physical activity, while helping them to understand the importance of a balanced diet and an active lifestyle.
The +Sport Move and Learn Project is part of Ferrero’s global Kinder + Sport initiative designed to encourage active lifestyles that has already reached over 15 million children around the world. To date, the programme has been delivered locally in 55 schools, with 3,687 children impacted. To build on this success, this year another 30 schools and 1,800 children will be reached.
Over the course of six weeks, children from Year 5 classes spend 45 minutes in the classroom learning about the body, nutrition and the importance of exercise, through participating in interactive activities. The second half of the 90 minute session is dedicated to playing football, dodgeball or handball, with two weeks spent on each sport.
The first schools taking part this year are: Ernesford, Howes, Mount Nod and St John’s C of E Primary School and there is opportunity for many more local schools to sign up over the 2016/2017 academic year.
Sky Blues in the Community Health Ambassador and Coventry City FC First Team Player, Chris Stokes is a huge supporter of the Kinder + Sport Move and Learn Project, saying:

This national project is important for educating children about healthy eating and being active. The lessons are interactive and the Sky Blues coaches make sure the children really enjoy taking part in the programme. As Health Ambassador, I am proud to support such a fantastic project.”
