NEWS: Coventry City FC are saddened to learn of the death of former player Brian Hill this week

30 October 2016

Coventry City legend Brian Hill has passed away at the age of 75...

A young Brian Hill - standing at 16 years and 273 days in age - etched himself in to football's history books during his time at Coventry City, becoming the youngest goalscorer and debutant during the final match of the 1957/58 Division Three South campaign against Gillingham.

Despite losing 3-2 on that occasion, Hill still holds the record of youngest ever City starter and goalscorer, with Gary McSheffrey and Jonson Clarke-Harris failing to find the net on their professional debuts at a younger age.

The arrival of Brian's namesake, Jimmy, rejuvenated Hill's playing career - going on to become one of the most renowned defenders in Sky Blue history.

Brian spent a total of 14 years with the Sky Blues, amassing over 240 appearances and registering seven goals during that period.

All of our thoughts are with Brian's family and friends at this sad time.
