The Sky Blues became the first team to take any points away from Vale Park this campaign as both Marvin Sordell and Chris McCann were on target in a 2-0 win.
Mark Venus took charge of the team for the first time since the departure of Tony Mowbray and his City squad responded to the challenge by claiming their first three points of the league season.
Gael Bigirimana showed composure to tee up Sordell for the opener. City then doubled their tally after Dan Agyei robbed Paulo Tavares in possession and worked the ball to McCann who fired in to the roof of the net.
