Mark Venus looks ahead to this weekend's League One fixture against MK Dons at the Ricoh...
Mark Venus has once again emphasised the importance of a strong home form as City look to climb the League One table.
The defeat to league leaders Scunthorpe remains the only blotch on an otherwise impressive home record, with City also approaching two knockout ties in cup competition over the next few weeks.
Venus said: “Our home form has been quite good on the whole, we’ve found winning and scoring at home far easier than away from the Ricoh.
“That has to be an advantage and we have to make it count whenever we play at home. As we’ve said, we have to make our stadium a stronghold for points if we want to improve this season.
“I am expecting MK Dons to be a footballing side, rather than a physical side. They will want to get the ball down and play football, and that may suit us, at least I hope it does!”
The Sky Blues suffered defeat against ex-Championship side Bolton last time out, in which they were desperately unlucky not to take something from the game.
City had eighteen attempts on goal, eight more than the hosts, but failed to score past an in-form Ben Alnwick in the Wanderers net.
“The second half has to give the team a bit of belief going into this weekend’s game, but they still shouldn’t shy away from the fact we have only scored one goal in three games.
“Predominantly that is the reason we have not took more points as we have struggled to find the back of the net.
He added: “We have to be realistic and mindful of the situation. I don’t want them to lose confidence as they have to believe in themselves to get the victories we need.”
