Goalkeeper Lee Burge on the Sky Blues disappointing defeat against the League One table toppers...
Lee Burge admitted the dressing room was hugely disappointed to come away empty handed against league leaders Scunthorpe United.
Josh Morris’ strike ended a 14 match unbeaten run at the Ricoh arena and made the Sky Blues rue missed chances throughout the game.
The City ‘keeper believes there were positives to take from the game, despite the disappointing outcome. He said: “I thought we created enough chances to take something from the game. They had a few chances and took one.
“It was a great finish from their attacker, but we were disappointed not to take something from a quite even game throughout.
“I though we more than held our own against a really good, organised outfit. They’re at the top of the table for a reason, but we have to keep going and focus on bouncing back against Morecambe on Tuesday.”
With an FA Cup First Round replay against Morecambe at the Ricoh next week, the fixtures are coming thick and fast, although Burge said that is what all the players want.
“After a loss you want the fixtures to come around quick because you’re eager to put it right. It’s obviously disappointing to lose our unbeaten home run, but we take things game by game.
“We know have to try and focus to start another little run, starting with the cup on Tuesday. It’s always good for the club if you can have a good cup run, so we’ll be doing our best to win the game,”
He added: “From a personal point of view I’ve been back in the team and enjoying it. I feel as though I’ve done well the past few games so hopefully that can continue.”
