“The only way to climb the table is to claim 3 points, so that is exactly what we’ll be looking for tomorrow." - Coventry City's Andy Rose

Midfielder Andy Rose on the Sky Blues' FA Cup progression and this weekend's opponents Oxford United...

Andy Rose believes the Sky Blues have taken confidence from Tuesday’s FA Cup victory against Morecambe as they prepare to return to league action tomorrow.

City travel to the Kassam Stadium to face Oxford United, having already beaten the U’s 2-1 in mid October.

Rose said: “It was great to win the game on Tuesday, especially because it is a cup competition so you obviously have to win to remain in the cup.

“Any victory, whether it is in the cup competitions or the league is important. We’ve played in a few different tournaments already this season, but it’s about gaining momentum and winning games to help that.

“We put ourselves in a bit of a hole earlier in the season so getting wins at this stage of the season, in any competition, is certainly going to help us improve.”

After a good run at the Ricoh, Rose believes it is important that City’s away form picks up as they look to push for the top-half of the table. The Sky Blues have only won once away from home after defeating Port Vale in Mark Venus’ first game in charge.

“Our home form on the whole has been quite good, and I think we were a bit unlucky against Scunthorpe to come away empty handed. That now means we have to pick up points elsewhere.

“We’ve got a couple of big away matches coming up against some big sides. At this stage a win, regardless of being home or away, is massive for the team because in the position we are, a draw is not enough.”

He added: “The only way to climb the table is to claim three points, so that is exactly what we’ll be looking to get tomorrow. We’ll go there and be aggressive hoping to get the win.”
