NEWS: SBitC welcome Paralympian Kare Adenegan as a special guest for this weekend's game against Scunthorpe

SBitC will be joined by a Paralympian and World Championship medallist this Saturday...

Ahead of Coventry City’s League One fixture against Scunthorpe United at the Ricoh Arena, Sky Blues in the Community welcome the Paralympic and two-time World Championship medallist Kare Adenegan as a special guest.

Kare is Coventry born and bred, and can be seen donning the world stage in her favourite Sky Blue racing wheelchair. At just 15 years of age, she has achieved a remarkable amount and is a legacy of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Having been inspired to take up the sport after watching athletes with similar disabilities shine on the biggest stage of them all, Kare clocked the 16th quickest time in the world in her first 100m race. She is also currently the holder of the second quickest time in the world.

In 2013, she became the British Athletics U15 track champion in 100, 200, 400 and 1500m, a title that she has retained in all subsequent years. She was later invited by the British Paralympic Association to attend a camp for young athletes.

Kare, quite remarkably, is in the top three of the World Rankings in each of the 100m, 400m and 800m disciplines, and represented Paralympic GB in three events during her first Games, winning a Silver medal and two Bronze’s.

If the ‘shorter’ distances were not enough, Kare even attempted, and won, the U17 Girls London Mini Marathon to add to the list of amazing achievements she has already accomplished.
