SIGNING: Coventry City sign Devon and Dion Kelly-Evans, and Kyle Spence on one-year contracts

City boss Tony Mowbray hopes to see the three players progress and challenge for the first-team next season...

Coventry City have signed three Under-21s players on new one-year contracts for the 2016/17 season.

The Sky Blues have secured the services of Dion Kelly-Evans, Devon Kelly-Evans and Kyle Spence for a further year after progressing well with the Under-21s last season.

Defender Dion Kelly-Evans capped off an impressive season with the Sky Blues by making his senior debut for the club in the 2-0 win at Oldham Athletic on the final day of the season, coming on for Andy Rose at half-time.

Midfielders Devon Kelly-Evans and Kyle Spence both showed impressive form in the second half of the season as Lee Glover's Under-21s stayed unbeaten since February, recording four wins and a draw to end the 2015/16 season.

City boss Tony Mowbray said: "We're delighted to secure the services of the three players for another year as we continue to build a competitive squad across both age groups.

"I was impressed with some of the Under-21s' performances towards the end of last season and to go on a five-match unbeaten run to end the season shows the determination to succeed from the group.

"Dion, Devon and Kyle have been consistent performers for the Under-21s and have shown over the year that they have the potential to progress into first-team footballers for the club.

"It's important that they continue to work hard though. Dion was rewarded for his efforts throughout the year with his senior debut but he needs to come into pre-season ready to challenge and push the players ahead of him.

"And that also goes for Devon and Kyle, who also need to work on adding goals to their game. They've both got a number of fantastic qualities but I really want to see them work hard on that aspect of their game throughout the next year."
