The Sky Blues left-back was stretchered off in the final stages of the 1-0 win over Blackpool at the weekend.
Stokes was sent for a scan by the club yesterday and will now consult a specialist to find out the full extent of the injury.
The 25-year old has started every game for the Sky Blues this season, making 38 appearances and scoring two goals.
