HEAD TO HEAD: Coventry City vs Swindon Town – Both teams level in the all time head-to-head record

18 March 2016

The Sky Blues will look to edge the Robins in the all time head-to-head record on Saturday…

Coventry City take on Swindon Town at the Ricoh this Saturday looking to claim their second consecutive league victory after beating Blackpool, last week.

The fixture has a long history stretching back to the very first meeting between the clubs 107 years ago in the Southern League First Division. That game in December 1908, ended in a 1-1 draw. However, since then City and the Robins have go onto win the fixture on 24 occasions each, drawing 20 times.

The most recent draw between the sides came in October last year, with Swindon scoring two late goals to snatch a point at the County Ground.

The biggest victory the Sky Blues have recorded over Swindon was a 6-0 goal fest back in October 1955, in front of a 17,000 strong crowd.  Barry Hawkings netted a hatrick while Ray Sambrook scored a brace with Lol Harvey getting the other.

City has not beaten the Robins since January 2001, where they emerged 2-0 victors in the FA Cup third round fixture at the County Ground.  In recent times the Sky Blues have drawn two and lost three of the recent clashes between the sides, but after victory at Bloomfield Road last week ,the Sky Blues will be aiming to build on their winning momentum.
