City have won nine more games than Colchester in the clashes between the two, with one of those wins coming this season.

Coventry City have the edge in their all-time record against Colchester United, with the Sky Blues winning 17 of the 33 clashes between the two sides.

Colchester have won eight times in this fixture, with eight draws also being played out between the pair.

Their first meeting came back in 1953, while the most recent tie resulted in a 3-1 Sky Blue win as ex-U’s forward Jacob Murphy inspired a 3 goal comeback at Colchester's Community Stadium.

Murphy claimed a brace that day and Marc-Antoine Fortune chipped in with another to complete the turnaround from 1-0 down.

Another memorable Sky Blues' win against Colchester came in September 2013, when a brace from Callum Wilson secured a 2-0 win.

City's biggest ever win against the U's was a 5-1 win in the Championship back in 2008, with goals from Leon Best, Danny Fox, Michael Doyle and two penalties from Elliot Ward securing the win after Scott Vernon had fired the U's into an early lead.
