The Sky Blues prepare for their trip to Bloomfield Road on Saturday, we look at the all time head-to head between the clubs...
Coventry City play Blackpool at Bloomfield Road this Saturday, in the Sky Bet League One fixture.
The fixture has a 97-year history with the first game being played between the sides back in November 1919, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
Since then the sides have met a further 27 times with City coming out on top eight times to Blackpool’s 15 with there being only five draws between the sides. The Sky Blues’ last victory over the Seasiders came in January 2009 with a 2-1 win at the Ricoh in the Championship fixture. DJ Campbell gave the visitors the lead half-way through the first half before Guillaume Beuzelin and Michael Misfud got the goals to secure the points for the Sky Blues.
The standout result for City against Saturday’s opponents was probably the 2-1 win at the Ricoh as it helped the team consolidate their position in the league, aiding them to finish 17th in the table, eight points clear of relegation that season.
Last Five Fixtures
Heading into the game, Tony Mowbray’s men will be hoping to get the three points that will break the duct of poor results of late and the poor results of against Blackpool, as City have not beaten the Seasisders since that 2-1 vicotry in 2009.
