League One strugglers Colchester further dented the Sky Blues play-off hopes with a 1-0 victory at the Ricoh Arena.
Gavin Massey scored the only goal of the game in the 18th minute, after Reice Charles-Cook palmed Elliot Lee’s cross in to his path.
Visiting keeper Elliot Parish stood up to a penalty challenge as Romain Vincelot was tripped in the box and Jacob Murphy’s resulting spot kick was duly saved.
City are now eight points adrift of the play-off places, with seven games remaining.
