PRESS WATCH: “If we secure the players we want then I will be full of confidence going into next season” - Coventry City’s Tony Mowbray

Mowbray in talks with potential signings, as the club look to build a promotion chasing squad for the 2016/17 season...

The Sky Blues manager has revealed to the Coventry Telegraph that steady progress is being made during transfer negotiations, with the hope of gaining some permanent signatures in the coming weeks.

Tony Mowbray and Technical Director Mark Venus have both spoken of the focus at the club to build a squad capable of pushing for League One promotion during the 2016/17 season.

Having finished the 2015/16 season in eighth, just five points adrift of a top six finish, the Sky Blues boss will be looking to bridge the points gap between the club and a play-off spot.

“There’s a list on the board of players we’d like to engage and we’re sticking to that at the moment; certainly not having to divert our attention away at this stage.

“We’re edging forward and if we get the ones we want then I will be full of confidence going into next season, believing we can have a really good campaign.”
