DERBY DAYS: When do the Sky Blues line up against local rivals during the 2016/17 season?

Find out when the Sky Blues will face Midlands rivals Walsall, as well as new boys Northampton Town and MK Dons...

Saturday 27th August 2016: Coventry City v Northampton Town
Saturday 28th January 2017: Northampton Town v Coventry City

The first derby day of the new season will take place at the Ricoh Arena on the 27th August, when the Sky Blues host Rob Page’s Northampton Town. The Cobblers finished as League Two champions last year and will be playing their first season in the third tier of English football since 2009. The return leg in January 2017 will be City’s first competitive encounter at Sixfields Stadium since returning to the Ricoh Arena in 2014.  

Saturday 29th October 2016: Walsall v Coventry City
Saturday 22nd April 2017: Coventry City v Walsall 

City travel to Walsall on October 29th and expect there to be a repeat of Sky Blues fans travelling en masse to watch the two Midlands sides go head-to-head. Last year’s fixture at the Bescot Stadium was the fourth most attended away fixture of the League One campaign, with 2,281 Sky Blue fans making the trip. 

Saturday 26th November 2016: Coventry City v Milton Keynes Dons 
Saturday 18th March 2017: Milton Keynes Dons v Coventry City 

The relegation of the Dons from the Championship last season has added another much anticipated away day to the 2016/17 fixture schedule. The last time the Sky Blue faithfuls travelled to Stadium MK in 2013, the away crowd totalled 6,781. City will firstly have to welcome the MK Dons to the Ricoh Arena on November 26th, before making the trip to Buckinghamshire in the new year.
