“We know it is a tough game and a good fixture for us at this stage of the season.” - Coventry City’s Tony Mowbray

The City boss bills today's fixture as a tough one, with kick-off against Nuneaton scheduled for 3pm...

The Sky Blues manager has commented about the challenge of facing National League North side Nuneaton Town in the club’s opening preseason fixture today.

Mowbray is set put his squad to test ahead of the Sky Blues trip to Austria on Monday. Defender Chris Stokes will miss out as he continues rehab from a knee injury, while new signing Kwame Thomas is also continuing to build his fitness at the training ground today.

Mowbray said: “I don’t put too much pressure on myself with the first preseason. We’ve had a weeks worth of training, which has been focussed on fitness and conditioning rather than shape and organisation.

“We know from recent history how difficult this fixture can be, on a huge pitch. We know its a tough game, good fixture for us at this stage of the season.

“We’ll be looking to see if some of the younger players can catch the eye and see how close they can get to the starting 11 this year.”
