NEWS: Marvin Sordell poised to make first Coventry City start against SK Sturm Graz

16 July 2016

Forward Marvin Sordell is set to lead the line against the Austrian side in today’s friendly fixture…

Sordell completed his move from League Two side Colchester United at the beginning of July and was straight in to life as a Coventry City player, with a few days training at base camp in Ryton followed by a tour of Austria.

The 25-year old has enjoyed a positive pre-season out in sunny Austria with the Sky Blues squad, having spent the week-long trip testing City’s keepers Reice Charles-Cook and Lee Burge.

Having caught the eye of the manager, the striker is set to start as the focal point of an attacking threesome against SK Sturm Graz today.

Speaking about City's latest signing, Sky Blues Manager Tony Mowbray said: “His feet look pretty pure to me. Both his left foot and his right foot. He shifts the ball and hits it.

"He has to learn how we play and he’s going through that process of being at a new club with new teammates and the demands are going to be different from previous years.

“I’m pleased that he’s shown he knows where the goal is. He has got some power in both boots and hopefully that can transmit into game-time back in England.”
