Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has admitted defender Peter Ramage will be close to a starting spot against Burton Albion.

The Sky Blues face top of the table Burton Albion at the Ricoh Arena tomorrow as City look to build on their 1-1 draw with Walsall in midweek.

Ramage, who signed a deal until the end of the season this month, was on the bench for the Saddlers draw but could be edging closer to a start against Nigel Clough's side.

Mowbray also admitted Burton should expect to see midfielder James Maddison in the side as City prepare for the huge game.

The City boss said: "He's been impressive in training and has worked really hard over the past couple of weeks to get up to speed.

"I have to say I like Peter Ramage on the training pitch. I like a defender with a good voice and someone who can lead in that sense. He'll be in contention for the weekend.

"We've got a good balance in the squad at the moment with a mix of young and experienced players, and it's working well.

"I have to say Burton should expect to see James Maddison on the teamsheet this weekend. He was on the bench in midweek but that's part of what we have to do with the options we have."
