MATCH REPORT: Coventry City 2-1 Charlton Athletic - Bassala Sambou hits eight FA Youth Cup goals in City win

The Sky Blues will host the Premier League giants in the fifth round after a resilient win over the Addicks...

Coventry City will play Arsenal in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup as the Sky Blues recorded a 2-1 win over Charlton Athletic.

Bassala Sambou and Jordan Shipley scored to seal the tie despite a late penalty from Chris Millar.

The Sky Blues started with Bassala Sambou up front and true to his recent FA Youth Cup form, he scored with his first chance of the game.

Chris Camwell found space at left-back to thread a wonderful through-ball to the on-rushing Sambou who rounded Charlton Athletic keeper Jordan Beeney to slot home.

Eight minutes later, the Sky Blues established a two-goal lead. The Addicks failed to clear a corner and Hickman delivered a great cross which fell for Jordan Shipley to smash home from 12 yards.

The away side needed a response and should have got back into the game through a sucession of chances. First, Taylor Maloney fired wide from 20 yards before Sulaiman Bah had a snap-shot saved and Chris Millar's shot was well blocked by Darragh Leahy.

Charlton Athletic continued their dominant spell after the break. Terrique Anderson had two efforts in the space of a minute after he found space on the edge of the area but his shot was well saved by Addai.

His second chance was gifted to him by some sloppy City defending which saw Anderson pounce but fire a low shot wide of the right-hand post from 10 yards.

The lively Hickman curled narrowly wide of the left-hand post in the 63rd minute before Shipley half-volleyed wide from the edge of the area two minutes later.

Charlton got back in it with 18 minutes remaining as substitute Brendon Sarpong was fouled in the area and Chris Millar stepped up to slot home.

City did well to manage the game after the Charlton reply and could have stretched their lead in the final stages. Kyle Finn crossed for Shipley from the right but his low shot was well blocked.

Hendricks came on in the final minutes of the game as Jason Farndon's side sealed a fifth round tie against Arsenal.
