HEAD TO HEAD: Coventry City vs Scunthorpe United - The Iron edge all time record by one win

28 January 2016

We take a look at City's record against the Iron ahead of Saturday's clash...

Coventry City go into their League One clash against Scunthorpe United with the Iron having a slightly better head-to-head record, with City amassing five wins to the Irons’ six, while there has been four draws between the teams.

Scunthorpe are unbeaten in their last three meetings with the Sky Blues, with the most recent clash ending in a 1-0 defeat for Tony Mowbray’s  men at Glanford park, back in September.

The last time City beat the Irons was back in March 2013 when the Sky Blues emerged 2-1 winners away to Saturday’s visitors. Akpo Sodje got the opening goal for Scunthorpe but goals from Carl Baker and Leon Clarke sealed the victory, in manager Steven Pressley's first game.

The biggest win the Sky Blues have recorded over Scunthorpe was a 7-0 victory back in the first round of the FA Cup in November 1934, at Highfield road. This was also the first ever meeting between the two clubs.

Scunthorpe visit the Ricoh on Saturday on the back off a comfortable 3-0 win over Colchester in their last game, but City will be looking to halt their winning streak after losing two games on the bounce.
