Fans demonstrations overshadow Sky Blues last game of the year at the Ricoh...
Coventry City came away with little for their spirited efforts against Sheffield United, despite a bright second half performance.
Dan Agyei cancelled out Billy Sharp’s opener, before the no.10 struck again late on to give the visitors all three points and cause yet more Sky Blue heartache.
Mark Venus said: “I think we worked really hard, we gave it everything. The more the game went on the more threat we had and the less threat they had.
“To give a late goal away is just where we are at the moment, I’m disappointed about giving such a late goal away.
“We played a good team today, bit of experience and knowhow, I thought we matched them. Last few minutes we conceded...again.”
The game was disrupted multiple times by fan protests, and it was the Blades who responded the better after the players had to be chaperoned off the pitch - despite City being in the ascendancy prior to the stoppage.
Venus added: “It is 90 minutes. We didn’t get anything for our effort. You can see the league, you watch us every week we need to get better in both boxes. It is our Achilles heel.
“You have to take a bit of encouragement, if we can get both boxes right it will give us a chance of winning games. We have to be more streetwise and get the players in to help us do that.
“We need to find a manager, the football club needs someone to take the team forward. We’ll work hard to try and get that person in before Jan.”
