The Sky Blues are set to host some medal winning heroes from Team GB as they take on Northampton in League One action...
The city of Coventry will welcome home some of Team GB’s Rio heroes this Saturday at Ricoh Arena from 9:30-3pm; where fans can expect to meet some of Team GB’s 2016 medallists and competitors.
Coventry City face Northampton Town at the stadium on the same day – so it’s a perfect chance for Sky Blues fans to try some new sports before watching their team in action at 3pm.
The free-to-attend festival, called I Am Team GB, has been billed as the biggest ever sports day in the country and Sky Blues in the Community will be there to showcase some of the exciting projects they provide throughout Coventry and Warwickshire, while CCFC will also be providing a special ticket offer for Saturday’s match for those attending too.
Olympic medal winners will head to the Jaguar Exhibition Hall to greet and give expert advice to fans. As well as attracting gold medallists to the event – which is being run in conjunction with The National Lottery and ITV – 16 different sports will be on offer in a bid to drive up the city’s participation in sport.
Visitors will be able to try taster sessions in a range of sports, delivered by coaches from a range of local and national organisations.
Guy Rippon, director at Sky Blues in the Community, said: “This is a great opportunity for people to get involved and will allow us to showcase some of our community projects, including In It Together – which is encouraging more females to become active.”
Be sure to look out for Sky Blues in the Community & CCFC on Saturday 27th and come along to experience some of the work SBitC do, making a real difference to the local community.
