“My aim is to be a number nine here and get on the scoresheet as much as possible.” - Coventry City’s Daniel Agyei

City's latest signing opens his scoring account as he attempts to make an impact on his first loan spell away from his parent club...

The Sky Blues new frontman Daniel Agyei announced his arrival on Saturday with a confident first performance for the club, rounded off with a well-taken debut goal.

The 19-year old is set to play his football in the West Midlands until January 2017 and impressed his new manager on Saturday with his directness and ability to beat defenders on the turn.

The Burnley loanee said: “All the lads have been welcoming and it has been nice to get out on the pitch and play minutes. I knew a couple of weeks ago that Coventry City were interested in me, but I think Burnley wanted to make sure I was ready for a loan move.

“I played two games during pre-season for the first-team, came on against Bradford and got a full 90 against Bolton and I think I proved myself.

“I’ve been training with the first-team a lot, but getting most of my game time at U21s level, but I feel like I am ready to make that step in to competitive football now.”

The young forward would like to convert his impressive goalscoring record at Academy level in to senior goals, having bagged the Sky Blues first league goal of the new campaign on Saturday.

He added: “The plan is to bring my ability to score goals from youth level in to the proper game. I’d like to think I’m fairly versatile and can play a dual role really; sometimes holding the ball up and linking with midfielders, then sometimes running in behind and being direct.

“My aim is to be a number nine here and get on the scoresheet as much as possible. Work hard initially, earn my place in the starting team and play well enough to stay there.”
