REWIND: Coventry City 2-0 Wigan Athletic - The Sky Blues claim a comfortable opening day victory over the Latics

The Sky Blues opened this season's League One account with an emphatic win over Wigan Athletic at the Ricoh Arena...

Ahead of the Latics clash this Saturday, we revisit the highlights from the reverse fixture on day one of the 2015/16 season...

This season’s star man Adam Armstrong handed Coventry City a comfortable opening day victory over Wigan at the Ricoh Arena back in August.

The Sky Blues claimed a 2-0 victory over now table toppers Wigan, despite relinquishing 58% possession of the ball.

Armstrong opened the scoring as he met Jim O'Brien's through ball and tucked the ball into the left corner.

With Wigan pressing for a second-half equaliser, the Sky Blues caught an opening on the break and Armstrong met John Fleck's cross from five-yards out to double the lead and his personal tally for the day.

The striker was then denied a hat-trick after hitting the post with 15 minutes to go.
