MATCH REPORT: Charlton Athletic U21s 1-1 Coventry City U21s - Bullet header from Ryan Haynes rescues point

Reice Charles-Cook stars for the Sky Blues as City continue their impressive form in the Under-21s this season...

A last minute bullet header from Ryan Haynes rescues a point for Coventry City Under-21s at Charlton Athletic.

Brandon Hanlon opened the scoring for the Sky Blues after an impressive performance by Reice Charles-Cook but Haynes' last-minute header secures a point.

The Sky Blues were looking to continue their impressive start to the season which has seen the side win three of their four matches so far.

Charles-Cook, who was playing against his brother Regan who started in midfield for Charlton Athletic, was the busier of the two keepers in the opening stages as he denied Brandon Hanlon's low effort in the 12th minute.

After Charles-Cook denied Hanlon once again in the 25th minute, a minute later, he saved well from former City star Franck Moussa's 45-yard strike to keep the scores level and once again from Joe Aribo just three minutes later.

The Sky Blues began to find their feet after the half-hour and should have took the lead in the 39th minute when Devon Kelly-Evans broke through the defence but was taken down whilst in on goal, with no action from the referee.

Two minutes later, Lateef Elford-Alliyu almost scored his first goal since signing for the club when he turned on the edge of the area but his powerful shot was brilliantly saved by Dimitor Mitov.

After the break, Ivor Lawton should have given the Sky Blues the lead in the 57th minute when Jak Hickman crossed in but Lawton's effort was well blocked on the line.

Charlton came back into the game as Josh Umerah and Aribo were both denied before the home side took the lead 15 minutes from time.

The dangerous Hanlon found space on the edge of the area before turning Reece Ford and firing towards goal which hit Charles-Cook and went over the line.

However, the Sky Blues showed fantastic spirit and found an equaliser in the final minute of added time. Finn's corner found Ryan Haynes and he produced a bullet header to equalise for the Sky Blues to claim a point.
