Sky Blues in the Community celebrate winning Community Award at last week’s Coventry and Warwickshire Sports Awards

It was a successful night all round for the Sky Blues with James Maddison and Steve Ogrizovic also winners...

Sky Blues in the Community were celebrating after winning the Community Award at last week’s Coventry and Warwickshire Sports Awards.
 
This was the second annual awards evening, which is organised by the Trinity Mirror Group and took place at the Dallas Burston Polo Club in Southam. The Awards recognise and reward the contribution made in the last year by sports clubs, individuals and volunteers in Coventry and across Warwickshire.
 
The community team were nominated in two categories; the Community Award category and the Under 19/ School team of the year.
 
The Under 19/ School Team of the Year award went to Coundon Court Girl’s Under 13s team, who pipped the Sky Blues Elite Under 12s to the title.
 
The Sky Blues in the Community team came up against Wasps and the Coventry Charity Football Cup in the Community Award category, which recognises the contribution of sport within the local community. The Sky Blues in the Community team came out on top, winning the Award for the wide range of projects and activities that are on offer across Coventry and Warwickshire for people of all ages.
 
It was a successful night for all-round for the Sky Blues, with James Maddison picking up the Young Professional Player of the Year and goalkeeping legend Steve Orgrizovic taking the Lifetime Achievement Award, adding to the community team achievement.
