CONNECTIONS: Coventry City vs Blackpool - We look at three players who have played for both sides over the past four years

16 October 2015

The Sky Blues have shared plenty of players with tomorrow's opponents, here are three recent ones which we look at in more detail...

Coventry City and Blackpool have shared a number of players over recent years.

We take a closer look at three players who, over the past four years, have played for both sides.

Our trio starts with one of our current squad who had a brief loan spell with the Tangerines back in the Championship...

John Fleck

Before his move to Coventry City from Rangers, Scottish Under-21 international Fleck had a brief loan spell with the Tangerines in 2012.

At that time, the midfield maestro was seen as a striker and he played seven times for Blackpool in the Championship.

He was just 20 at the time of his loan spell before joining the Sky Blues that summer.

Gary Madine

During his four years with Sheffield Wednesday, Madine was loaned out three times, with two of those spells coming with the Sky Blues and Blackpool.

He was first loaned to Carlisle before joining City. He netted three times for the Sky Blues, a header in the JPT against Plymouth, a late goal against Port Vale and a penalty away to Gillingham.

His next loan spell was with Blackpool in the same year - he joined them in Feburary 2015. Madine played 15 times and notched twice, before joining Bolton Wanderers in the summer.

Nathan Delfouneso

Coventry City signed Delfouneso on loan from Aston Villa at the back end of the 2013/14 season.

But before his spell with the Sky Blues, he had two loan spells with Blackpool in 2012/13 and at the start of the 2013/14 campaign.

He netted six goals, all in his first loan spell.

With City, he scored twice, against Walsall at Sixfields and at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United. After a loan spell, he secured a permanent move to Blackpool and last season he made 38 appearances and scored five times.

He is currently with Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
