Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray lamented the Sky Blues' luck during their 0-0 draw with Blackpool at the Ricoh Arena, stating that 'it wasn't to be today.'City dominated the game against the defensive Tangerines but could not break the deadlock in what was a game of few chances.
Mowbray did however praise his sides graft and determination in what was an attritional battle.
"It wasn't to be today," he said. "It is a shame because we gave it everything we possibly had.
"I can't fault the commitment of the players or their desire, the team worked extremely well and made some opportunities.
"Ryan Kent and Adam Armstrong had only one training session so it's fair to say they weren't at their fittest, but it's harsh to blame them.
"We gambled at the start of the second half and for those ten minutes the visitors started to get back into it, but that's the risk you take.
"If you don't gamble you won't score so that's why we played the way we did."
There was one piece of good news however as City kept alive their unbeaten home record.
When told this Mowbray gave a typical honest response!
"Well it must mean that this team is doing something right then? It's a very good record to have and to build on.
"We will have games like that at home and it is about finding a way to win. Unfortunately it wasn't to be today."
