"We'll assess Reice Charles-Cook tomorrow. James Maddison is getting closer." - Coventry City's Tony Mowbray

The City boss expressed caution with goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook but says he is in contention...

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray stated the decision as to whether Reice Charles-Cook is recalled to the line-up will be made tomorrow, while James Maddison is getting closer to his return.

Charles-Cook sustained a knock in the warm-up prior to the Northampton game but could possibly face Colchester on Saturday.

“We will have a look in training tomorrow and make the decision then,” Mowbray said.

“We don’t want to put him at risk. His performance level has been high, if he tells me he is 100% fit and he is fine, then he will be in contention.”

James Maddison has had an extended period on the sidelines but the City boss believes he is finally close to a return.

Mowbray continued: “James Maddison is on the grass everyday now. He is working with the physios, he is in the gym, on the treadmill.

“He seems to be moving across the grass really well, which tells me he is not far away. The initial target would have been late November, early December, thus we hope he’ll back to full training with the group soon.”
