Coventry City's Joe Cole was delighted to score at the Ricoh Arena and after his first experience at the ground, believes the facilities suggest the club should be playing higher in the leagues.

The Aston Villa loanee capped off his home debut with a stunning free-kick just before the hour mark, as he stepped up from 25-yards to curl one into the top corner.

It proved to be the winner for the Sky Blues and the 33-year old that the facilities within the club suggest that City should be playing at a higher level.

"It was nice!" Cole said.

"It's nice to get on free-kicks, as I've played with many great free-kick takers like David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. I've not taken too many in my career! I could say to the lads tonight I was taking it, I couldn't back then with those great free-kick takers!

"It's a great stadium to play in and I'm delighted to be here. I think it shows that we should be higher in the leagues. It's up to us players, management and staff to put the club in a higher position particularly with the facilities and the city.

"But most importantly we got the three points against a side that probably shouldn't be where they are."

Cole was pleased that the Sky Blues continued their unbeaten run at home and secured back-to-back victories at the Ricoh Arena.

Despite that, the 33-year old believes the team were disappointed with their second-half display, which Cole believes is a good thing and shows the high standards of the side at the moment.

He also praised striker Adam Armstrong after his brace and added: "The best thing about the win is that the team are disappointed with the performance, that shows the standards here.

"I've come here to help the team and I'm excited to play with young players and help them develop on and off the pitch.

"Armstrong reminds me of Aguero in a way, he's of the build and he's hungry for goals. In a lovely way he's selfish for goals and has the ingredients to be a top player and go on to score many more goals.

"We're pleased with the three points and we'll be looking to keep the form going."
