The Sky Blues midfielder is expected to feature against Barnsley tonight as City to close the gap on the top of the table...
Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has hinted midfielder Joe Cole could start for the Sky Blues tonight against Barnsley.
The Sky Blues face the Tykes at the Ricoh Arena tonight, with kick-off at 7.45pm, as City look to carry on their unbeaten run at home this season.
If Mowbray's side can claim three points tonight, they'll go within a point of the League One summit and go into third position.
Joe Cole was left out of the squad for the 3-2 win over Peterborough United and Mowbray has hinted he could start tonight.
Mowbray said: "Without giving the team away, I think there is a chance Joe Cole could start.
"If we really needed him at the weekend, I'm sure we could have got him on the pitch but we don't want to take risks when we've got plenty of games.
"He's spent a few more days getting his body right and I'm hopeful that Joe will be around the squad tonight.
"He's been good around the place with the lads, in the building and on the training ground, and hopefully he can make a big impact tonight, either from the start or the bench."
Joe Cole played for 60 minutes against Rochdale and 45 minutes against Swindon Town as he continues to build his fitness since his loan move from Aston Villa.
Mowbray believes he's done well for the Sky Blues so far but also praised Jim O'Brien for his substitute appearance at the weekend.
He added: "I think he's done well in the games he has played for us and he's anxious to get on the pitch at the Ricoh Arena in front of the home fans.
"Hopefully it can happen against Barnsley and the fans can see what he can produce as he's got very fast feet and works really well in tight areas.
"If we've got the right targets for him, he can with speed and mobility around them and create chances for the side.
"It should be an exciting balance really. Like I say though, he'll have to fit in and we'll look at the other options we've got as well.
"Jim O'Brien came off the bench at the weekend and did fantastically well. We've got options so we'll pick the right team, mindful of the right subs on the bench to bring on."
