You can get Leon McKenzie's incredible autobiography for just £1 from the CCFC Superstore or online!!

As part of the CCFC Superstore End of Season Sale, a range of Sky Blues products have been reduced in price.

One of those is the autobiography of former Sky Blues striker Leon McKenzie , entitled ’My Fight With Life’ and available for only £1.

While Sky Blues fans will remember Leon for his 68 appearances and 14 goals for the Sky Blues in the 2006-09, less was publically known about his life off the pitch until this book was published.

Leon travelled from the Premier League to prison, with a suicide attempt in between. But he is now a free man again – free from jail and free enough from his mental torment to start helping others with similar problems.

His book provides a fascinating read, with Leon talking openly and candidly about his life and experiences on and off the field of play.

We’ve picked out some extracts from Leon about his time with the Sky Blues:

Leon on Sky Blues fans…
“When the Coventry fans were in good voice, as they were when I scored in a big game against Wolves, the place just rocked.”

Leon on his best match for the Sky Blues - Sky Blues 2 Wolves 1, Saturday, February 7, 2009…
“Wolves were pushing for promotion when they came to the Ricoh and it was a competitive derby. We were well up for it. We didn’t want them celebrating on our patch.
Michael Doyle put us ahead in the first half, but they looked like getting a point when Sam Vokes equalised late on. But three minutes later Jordan Henderson played a superb ball through for me and I dinked it over the goalkeeper. The ball seemed to take an age to roll over the line, but our crowd went mad when the goal was given.”

Leon on then Sky Blues boss Micky Adams…
“I thank Micky Adams for making me a million pound footballer and I was sad to see him leave even though we had to do far too much running in training under him.”

On scoring his 100th career goal…
“Scoring my 100th goal was one of the highlights of my professional career and that happened at Coventry so there were some good memories from my time at the Ricoh.”
