Former Coventry City striker John Aloisi has been appointed as the new head coach of Australian A-League side Brisbane Roar.

Aloisi, who joined the Sky Blues in December 1998, netted ten times for the club in 41 appearances, including a brace in the club's first ever away league win against Aston Villa, the 4-1 win in February 1999.

After his retirement, the Socceroos legend started his coaching career at Melbourne Heart as a youth coach, before moving up to the first-team job in May 2012. 

Earlier this year, Aloisi joined Melbourne Victory as a development coach but will now take the reigns of Roar who last won the A-League in 2013/14.
