Coventry City midfielder Ben Stevenson has agreed terms to sign his first professional contract with the club from July 1st.

The 18-year old has signed a two-year professional deal with the Sky Blues and has been with the club for ten years.

Stevenson, a central midfield player, has impressed at both Under-18s and Under-21s levels throughout the 2014/15 campaign, including a wonderful goal against Bournemouth at the Goldsands stadium to help the Under-18s beat the Cherries 3-2 in the FA Youth Cup.

Academy manager Rich Stevens said: “Ben’s an exciting player to watch.

“He’s a clever centre-midfield player and we have high hopes for him. Hopefully he can keep progressing with the Under-21s and get into contention for the first-team this coming season.”

Under-18s coach Jason Farndon added: “Ben is a really talented player and I believe he has the potential to be one of the best young centre-midfield players in the country.

“He’s had injuries to contend with this year but has shown great character and determination to recover and give everything this season.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing him continue his development as technically, he’s an excellent player so we need to look after him and I’m sure he will be a great talent in the future.”
