Coventry City defender Reda Johnson claims Community Player of the Season award

5 May 2015

Sky Blues in the Community director Dave Busst has thanked Reda for all his efforts during the 2014/15 season...

Coventry City defender Reda Johnson won the Community Player of the Season award following his work in the local community.

Johnson, who has previously won the Football League Community Player of the Year, continued his off-the-pitch activities when he joined Coventry City last summer.

The central defender has worked on a range of projects with SBitC including the Premier League Kicks campaign and worked alongside Kick it Out on a number of school visits.

The 27-year old has put in more community hours than any other City player this season and has drawn praise from Sky Blues in the Community director Dave Busst.

Busst said: "It has been great to work alongside Reda this season as he has always made himself available and done so with a smile on his face.

"He is excellent at working with children in the community and has helped us with various projects this season. He has shown us exactly why he is a former Football League Community Player of the Year!

"On behalf of everyone at SBitC and Coventry City Football Club, I'd like to thank Reda for his invaluable work in the community this season."

Johnson said: "Delighted to win the Community Player of the Season as I've always tried to make more time to work with people in the local area.

"I believe it is valuable to connect with fans in the City you are playing in, and community work is the best way to do that."
