INJURY NEWS: Marcus Tudgay could return for Sunday's crucial League One clash with Crawley Town

Sky Blues boss Tony Mowbray confirmed that Tudgay 'is in contention' for Sunday's crucial relegation decider at the Broadfield Stadium…

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has revealed that striker Marcus Tudgay could be available for the Sky Blues' crucial relegation decider against Crawley Town on Sunday.

Tudgay has been out of action since damaging his hamstring against Peterborough in March, but he could play a part in Sunday's clash, albeit possibly from the bench.

Mowbray also stated that defender Matthew Pennington has had an operation on his injured ankle yesterday as he looks to regain full fitness before the summer ends.

"Marcus Tudgay could be in contention," he said. "He has progressed from his injury very well, it's been tough for him especially when he did it again at Fleetwood.

"He is an asset to our team and if he is fit then he will be in contention for what is a very important match.

"Matty Pennington is definitely out, he has had an operation yesterday. It is a shame as he has been so consistent.

"It is important though for him to get to full fitness, he now has the summer to go away and get fit."
