Goals from Shaun Miller and Simeon Jackson almost capped off a wonderful comeback after City were 3-0 down...

Coventry City Under-21s were defeated by Cardiff City 4-2 at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Goals from Shaun Miller and Simeon Jackson weren't enough for the Sky Blues who almost earned a draw after being 3-0 down.

The Sky Blues passed the ball confidently in the first-half on a wet pitch and almost took the lead when captain Ivor Lawton beat two defenders on the right-hand side and surged into the area, forcing a good save from Ben Wilson with a low left-footed drive.

Despite the confident play City fell behind on 22 minutes when Tommy O'Sullivan got to the right byline and put in a low cross which gave Ben Watkins a tap in at the back post.

Simeon Jackson almost levelled shortly after as he raced through at an angle and hit a left-footed effort narrowly wide of the right post.

But the hosts had their second when Tyler Roche picked the ball up on the corner of the penalty area and hit a vicious effort which squirmed in at the near-post.

That was the end of the first 45 and Cardiff started the second-half strongly, with Roche forcing Richards into a wonderful save.

From the resulting corner, Semi Ajayi made it 3-0 as he smashed in from six-yards.

The Sky Blues were back in it when Miller tapped in from six-yards after racing through. City should have had their second when Jackson headed Ryan Haynes' cross and the ball looked well over the line. The linesman didn't give it and from the save, Lawton sliced wide.

Haynes then made way for Jordan Shipley and the Under-18s midfielder was instantly involved, as he layed a lovely cushioned pass to Jackson who placed a lovely shot into the left corner from 20-yards.

The Sky Blues had the hosts on the back-foot, but a late header from Ajayi from a corner made the points safe for the Bluebirds.
