Coventry City left it extremely late but recorded a well deserved 2-0 win over Fleetwood Town at Highbury.

Dominic Samuel netted the crucial goal with just two minutes to go before Frank Nouble rounded off an impressive win with a second with the last kick of the game.

The Sky Blues started the brighter and missed a great chance after just five minutes, when Chris Stokes' cross from the left reached Adam Barton at the back-post unmarked, but the midfielder couldn't adjust his feet to get any touch that would've been the opener.

City zipped the ball around on a nice pitch at Highbury and went close when Dominic Samuel blasted an effort from 25-yards which Chris Maxwell had to tip over.

But the Sky Blues almost fell behind before half-time when Jamie Proctor met a corner but his header from eight-yards was cleared off the line by Chris Stokes.

City started the second-half with a similar intent to the first and Frank Nouble went close, as he played a lovely one-two with Fleck who back-heeled to the striker and he curled a lovely effort narrowly wide of the far right post from outside the area.

With 20 minutes to go Stokes went so close as he lashed a vicious swerving effort from 30-yards which forced Maxwell into a great save and the left-back went inches away again from the resulting corner as he met Grant Ward's delivery but rattled the crossbar with a header.

But the crucial goal came just two minutes from time when substitute Jim O'Brien produced a lovely turn on the half way line and fed Samuel down the left-wing and the striker raced into the area and cooly slotted home from eight-yards under the keeper.

City dug in and Nouble was rewarded with the second goal after some excellent endeavour, despite looking extremely tired he hounded down the keeper who kicked the ball at him with the rebound hitting the post, but Nouble slotted into an empty net to round off a wonderful evening and send the 359 travelling faithful on the long journey home delighted.
