The City boss admitted it would have been nice to get a Championship side but he says he's happy with the draw...

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray believes the first round draw in Capital One Cup gives the Sky Blues 'something to look forward to'.

The Sky Blues found out this morning that they will travel to Spotland to face Keith Hill's Rochdale side in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

The tie will be played the week commencing Monday, August 10th with City set to find out the 2015/16 League One fixtures tomorrow morning at 9am.

City recorded their only win over Rochdale in the League Cup, a 4-0 win in September 1991, and Mowbray hopes to see his side progress in the competition.

The City boss said: "Well, it is always good to find out that first fixture of the upcoming season as it always adds a bit of excitement to the staff, players and fans at the club.

"It is another game against League One opposition and it is important we don't disrespect the competition, or the opposition.

"I always like to see my teams progress in cup competitions as I think it gives us a platform to perform on which can help propel our League campaign.

"Ideally, it would have been nice to get a Championship side as it is always good to play teams from other leagues but it is a good tie and one we'll look forward to."
