PROFILE

A life-long Newcastle United fan, Armstrong has been with the club since the age of nine, progressing all the way through the ranks at the club to the first-team.

The forward became the second-youngest Newcastle player of all-time in March 2014, when he came off the bench for the Magpies away to Norwich in the Premier League.

Manager at the time Alan Pardew praised the youngster, saying he "was a great pro" who "had a great chance." As a result, he was rewarded with his first start for the club, which the Toon striker pick up two assists in a League Cup tie against Crystal Palace, while his first Premier League start came on Boxing Day of the sa last year at OldTrafford of all places.

He has now made 15 first-team appearances for Newcastle, suggesting the club hold him in high regard. 

It is his England goalscoring record which stands out though, as he enjoyed a fruitful start to his international career by firing nine goals in his first eleven games for England U16s and U17s.
The biggest honour of Armstrong's career to date arguably came in June, when he was named captain of the England Under-18s side for their recent friendly double header in Russia.

His record for the Under-18s has been sensational too, with eight goals in nine games.
