MATCH REPORT: Leamington 0-0 Coventry City XI - Young Sky Blues play out goalless draw in friendly

30 July 2015

The City Under-21 squad got more minutes under their belt ahead of the 2015/16 season...

Coventry City XI played out a goal-less draw at the New Windmill Ground against Leamington FC.

The young Sky Blues side, which featured two trialists, got valuable minutes under their belt with Ryan Haynes and Aaron Phillips playing 90 minutes.

In a first-half of few chances, goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook was in fine form to deny Joe Magunda a minute before the break as he got down brilliantly to parry his powerful, low effort.

The Sky Blues dominated the second-half and should have gone ahead 10 minutes into the second-half when the lively Dion Kelly-Evans found space on the right to square for the trialist but his close-range shot was blocked.

The chances started to fall for City as Dion Kelly-Evans once again found space on the right to pull it back for Ivor Lawton but his goal-bound shot was well saved with 20 minutes remaining.

A minute later, it was Ben Stevenson who found space on the right to pull it back for Lawton, but once again, the keeper parried away his effort.

Ryan Haynes' late effort went wide as the young Sky Blues received another boost to their fitness ahead of the 2015/16 season.
