The story so far: City's FA Youth Cup run so far ahead of Manchester City clash

14 January 2015

The Sky Blues have beaten Peterborough Northern Star, Rochdale and Bournemouth to progress to Manchester City clash...

Coventry City face Manchester City this evening in the FA Youth Cup and here is how the Sky Blues have progressed to their fourth round tie.

Peterborough Northern Star (H - Liberty Way) 29/10/14

Two goals from James Maddison and a strike from Kyle Spence gave the Sky Blues comfortable passage against college outfit Peterborough Northern Star.

Maddison's first was a curling effort from outside the box just before the break, and his second came from a free-kick just outside the area.

Spence rounded off the win with a tap in from six-yards after some good build up play with George Thomas.

Rochdale (A - Spotland) 26/11/14

The Sky Blues came from behind to win 4-3 at Spotland in Round Two.

William Hasler-Craig beat Jake Richards from eight-yards after just eight minutes.

But City dominated the game from then and Thomas equalised with a tap in after the keeper parried Maddison's free-kick.

Maddison netted a second-half brace as he found the bottom left corner with his first from just inside the area and added his second with a penalty.

Spence netted his second in the competition and City's fourth as he fired in Devon Kelly-Evans' cross.

Bournemouth (A - Goldsans Stadium) 05/12/14

The Sky Blues were taken to extra-time against Bournemouth despite dominating the game.

Maddison netted his fifth of the competition from the spot to give City the lead, before Jordan Lee made sure Bournemouth went in level at half-time.

Ben Stevenson scored a beautiful goal from the edge of the box from 20-yards, but Lee netted his second of the night to send it to extra-time.

But Maddison netted a smart close-range finish to send City through to face Manchester City at the City Academy complex.
