Sky Blues in the Community are set to launch a brand new Girls Football Centre tomorrow night, to offer those aged 5-8 an opportunity to play in a girl’s only football environment.

The centre is open to female players of any experience or ability and will provide a high quality introductory football coaching just for girls. The main aim of the centre is to provide a structured environment to introduce girls to football, or further develop the skills of those who have already played.

The scheme is open to girls who already play for local teams to offer some additional coaching, but the community team will also link with a number of FA Charter Standard clubs to signpost those who don’t already play, who wish to join a local team.

The centre will be run by female Sky Blues in the Community coaches who hold a minimum FA Level 2 coaching qualification, first aid and safeguarding training.

The Girl’s Football Centre starts at 5.30pm on Tuesday 27th January, with special guests from Coventry City Ladies FC attending to support the launch the scheme.

The Football Centre will take place weekly on Tuesday evenings from 5.30pm – 7.00pm at St Finbarr’s Sports and Social Club on Holbrooks Lane in Coventry.

Sessions cost £4 each week for one and half hours activity, with the first time attending being a free taster. New players can join the centre at any time and you can contact the Sky Blues in the Community office on 024 7678 6349 to find out more information.
