The Sky Blues midfielder is delighted to sign his new contract and is looking forward to the future...

Coventry City midfielder John Fleck has expressed his delight at signing his new contract with the club.

Fleck, who signed for the Sky Blues from Rangers in 2012, said that he did not have to think twice before signing the contract and is eager to continue improving with City.

"It's obviously nice to get offered a deal and great to get it done," Fleck said.

"The first bit of contact with my representatives was just before Christmas so it's not been a long drawn out process or anything like that, we've got it done and it was an easy decision for me to make.

"I'm really happy, I'm enjoying my time here. It's a great club with a really good fanbase and a good manager, so I'm really happy and I'm eager to continue improving and to keep helping the club.

"I think it's a good time to be here and I'm looking forward to the future."

Fleck has been a big part of the Sky Blues' recent run of form, currently playing in a slightly deeper position in midfield.

The 23-year old, who has made 27 appearances this season, says he is enjoying the new role and believes the team will only continue to get better after a good start to 2015.

Fleck continued: "The role I'm playing in at the moment is good, it's good to get on the ball and make things happen from a deeper position. Obviously you want to try and score goals, that's what I want to do of course, but it's a lot more difficult from that position but as long as the team can keep winning that doesn't matter!

"I felt we've been playing well in the last couple of weeks. We played well against Chesterfield but were unfortunate not to take the points and get the goal. We've been a bit more of a solid unit too.

"On Saturday we played really well against a good side away from home so there are plenty of positives for us to take. We just have to make sure we continue in the same manner on Monday in another big game, hopefully we'll keep improving as we start the new year."
